November marked the first annual Discovering Mas luncheon from Blogs By Latinas. It was held in Los Angeles at the famous Miracle Mile. Many Latina bloggers and social media experts from around the county of Los Angeles were in attendance. There were two keynote speakers Jennifer Vides and Wally Sabria who spoke about social media and branding.
I was impressed with the number of brands who supported this luncheon. It points to the importance of the role that we, Latina Bloggers, have as consumers. More and more, I read about how brands vie to tap into the rapidly growing Latino market. As a result, it is re-shaping the way advertisers reach to us. Social media plays a big role on how brands’ messages are distributed. It’s a relationship that is a far cry from five years ago.
The afternoon was also an opportunity to meet new fellow bloggers as well as to visit with friends. One of the biggest questions I am always asked by others is, how do I deal with the competition? It’s true, there are many Latina bloggers but we don’t mirror each other too much, if at all. Each one of the bloggers I’ve met, has a different way of presenting information. Our audiences also vary and compliment our unique voice. I am privileged to be part of this evolving group.
